Uzbekistan set a new record in the number of foreigners visiting for business and commercial purposes during January-August 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the State Committee on Statistics, a total of 287.7 thousand foreigners arrived in the country during this period. This figure is 190.3 thousand more than the same period last year, representing a threefold increase.
Experts emphasize that this was due to an improved investment environment, the development of transport infrastructure, and the creation of favorable conditions for business. The majority of visitors came from Afghanistan, numbering 267,879.
Additionally, 14,648 foreigners came from Tajikistan, 2,235 from Turkmenistan, 585 from Russia, 392 from Turkey, and 373 from Kazakhstan. The number of visitors from other countries reached 1,635.
According to experts, the strengthening of economic ties with Afghanistan and the activation of border trade play an important role in this growth. Furthermore, the simplified visa regime for entrepreneurial activities, tax incentives, and the increase in the number of free economic zones in the country are boosting foreigners' interest in Uzbekistan.
Economic analysts note that the increase in foreign business delegations can further enhance the country's investment potential and contribute to the creation of new jobs. Additionally, increased activity is expected in the tourism and service sectors.
Experts believe that the business tourism sector will develop further next year and help Uzbekistan become a regional trade hub. This information was provided by the State Committee on Statistics (source: milliystat.uz).
