A modern medical cluster is planned to be established in Tashkent city in cooperation with the Republic of Korea. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Ministry of Health announced this. The project will be implemented with the participation of the Korea Eximbank and the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF).
The Kyeryong consortium has been selected as the main contractor for the construction of a multidisciplinary medical center for adults. It was announced that the project officially started with the signing of a contract between the head of this consortium and the Minister of Health.
The total cost of construction will amount to 149.8 million US dollars. Of this, 124 million dollars will be financed through EDCF credit funds via the Korea Eximbank, and the remaining 25.8 million dollars will be funded by Uzbekistan.
The new hospital will be built as a level IV modern medical center that meets international standards. It will have a capacity of 300 beds, creating new jobs for more than 700 doctors and medical staff.
Within the framework of the project, 130 Uzbek specialists will be sent to the Republic of Korea for advanced training. In addition, 32 highly qualified Korean doctors will come to our country to study and teach advanced experiences.
After the new center is launched, it is expected that more than 8,500 high-tech surgical operations will be performed annually. These surgeries will include cardiovascular system, transplantology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, as well as spinal and joint surgeries.
According to experts, this project will be a new stage not only for Tashkent but also for the entire healthcare system of Uzbekistan. It will expand opportunities to provide the population with highly qualified and modern medical services.
For reference, in 2020, the National Children's Medical Center, considered unique in Central Asia, was commissioned in Tashkent with the participation of EDCF. The new adult clinic is the next stage of international cooperation in this direction (source: Ministry of Health).
