Digital infrastructure in Uzbekistan has been rapidly developing in recent years. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Coverage of 99 percent of settlements with mobile communication is clear evidence of achievements in this field. This information was presented on October 21 during a video conference dedicated to artificial intelligence technologies chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to the President, in conditions where global demand for artificial intelligence is increasing, it is necessary to focus on three main directions to remain competitive: infrastructure, open data, and training qualified personnel. Over the past eight years, more than 300 thousand kilometers of optical fiber communication lines have been constructed across the country, and most settlements have been provided with mobile internet.
Seven modern data centers are operating for storing and processing large volumes of data. Next year, it is planned to implement one hundred projects related to artificial intelligence in the fields of healthcare, energy, banking and finance, customs, taxation, transport, mining, and agriculture.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized that high-capacity supercomputers are necessary to support these projects, as current systems are insufficient for large-scale tasks. Currently, entrepreneurs incur significant expenses to use data centers abroad.
For this reason, 50 million dollars have been allocated this year to purchase 16 supercomputers, and next year this amount will be doubled. Developing digital infrastructure serves not only economic growth but also the country's technological independence and future competitiveness.
