Mirziyoyev met with European companies in Brussels
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is on an official visit to Brussels. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

During this trip, he held meetings with leaders of leading European companies and financial institutions. According to the President's press service, this visit is aimed at further strengthening political and economic dialogue.

At the meeting held on October 24, leaders of major companies and financial organizations such as “Vandewiele,” “Linde,” “Rhenus Logistics,” “Ahlers Logistics,” “Lasselsberger Group,” “Pietro Fiorentini,” “NextChem,” “Meridiam,” “SUEZ,” “FMO,” “European Investment Bank,” “Commerzbank,” “KfW,” “Textima,” “Chimcomplex,” and “Metso” participated. The President emphasized the importance of mutual trust and a firm commitment to long-term cooperation.

The meeting noted the signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, marking a new stage in relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union, as a significant event. Over the past seven years, trade turnover has doubled, and the number of joint ventures has exceeded one thousand, reflecting growing confidence in the country's economic reforms.

European partners expressed their support for modernizing the country's economy, introducing new technologies, developing corporate governance, and fostering innovative production. The President also paid special attention to the development of human capital.

Opportunities for higher education for young people have expanded, branches of foreign universities have been opened, and joint educational programs with European universities are being implemented. During the roundtable discussion, the head of state outlined four main directions to deepen cooperation further.

The first is the implementation of projects to develop strategic raw materials and mineral resources and produce high value-added products through their processing. The second is the development of the “green economy” and chemical industry, widespread introduction of renewable energy sources, and involvement of European companies in environmental projects.

The third direction focuses on the development of infrastructure and logistics systems. Modernization work is underway on the country's road and rail corridors, airports, and transport corridors.

The President emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in creating modern logistics centers between Europe and Asia. The fourth direction is the development of the digital economy and information technology sector.

Uzbekistan is paying special attention to attracting Europe's advanced experience in this area, supporting digital services, electronic governance, and startups. At the end of the meeting, European business circles highly appreciated the economic reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed their readiness to expand future joint projects and investment cooperation.

According to analysts, this dialogue in Brussels marks the beginning of a new, practical phase of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Europe. Source: President's press service.
