In Uzbekistan, the process of obtaining a driver's license for moped and scooter owners will be simplified starting from 2026. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the new decision adopted by the government, from January 1, the "A1" small category license will be introduced. Now applicants are not required to complete 180 hours of theoretical and 20 hours of practical training courses compulsorily.
They will be able to take the theoretical exam directly. It is required to correctly answer at least 16 out of 20 test questions in the exam.
Applicants will have the opportunity to study the training courses online or offline in their chosen way or prepare independently. Also, drivers holding categories "A", "B", "C", and "D" will have the right to operate vehicles in the "A1" category without obtaining a separate document.
Starting from February 1, 2026, the possibility of independent theoretical training will also be introduced for categories "A" and "B". This will make the learning process more convenient and help reduce time and costs.
Additionally, from April 1, 2026, to enhance road traffic safety, a penalty points system will be introduced for 12 types of violations recorded by automatic camera systems. Importantly, penalty points will now be assigned to the driver who committed the violation, not the vehicle owner.
These changes are aimed at further improving the driving system in our country and enhancing road traffic safety. You can find more detailed information on the one.uz website.
