Safety regulations for handling radioactive waste have been approved in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This document defines the procedures for managing waste generated during the operation or decommissioning of nuclear power plants, research reactors, and other nuclear facilities. According to the document, radiation doses of personnel working with radioactive waste must be continuously monitored.
Waste should be classified according to its activity level, special protective barriers must be used to prevent radiation spread, and personnel must be provided with necessary personal protective equipment. The forms of radiation monitoring must be clearly specified in the facility's design and operational documents.
Additionally, organizations handling radioactive waste are required to develop special instructions and manuals to ensure safety. Annual reports on the volume of radioactive waste generated during the use of atomic energy are also mandatory.
These regulations aim to enhance safety at nuclear facilities and protect the environment. Source: zamin.uz
