
During his visit to the United States, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting in Washington with the US Secretary of Commerce, Howard Latnik. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed strengthening strategic economic partnership, increasing mutual trade volume, and implementing joint investment projects. It was emphasized at the meeting that trade volume between Uzbekistan and the USA has significantly increased in recent years.
In particular, trade indicators have grown fourfold, approaching 1 billion US dollars. Currently, more than 300 American companies operate in the territory of Uzbekistan.
These enterprises work in important sectors of the economy such as heavy industry, agriculture, energy, and innovative technologies. Special attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector during the negotiations.
Specifically, initial agreements were signed on the introduction of drip irrigation technologies and the supply of shade and cotton from the USA. Additionally, joint work on the efficient use of water resources was planned.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to establish an investment platform to finance and support joint projects. These negotiations are expected to further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
