
On November 10, 2025, the international charity run — Samarkand Marathon–2025 — took place at Registan Square in the city of Samarkand. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This event was organized within the framework of UNESCO's 43rd General Conference, bringing together thousands of participants from various countries around the world. More than 8,000 runners from 53 countries took part in the marathon.
Participants were offered to run one of the following distances: 5, 10, 21.1, or 42.2 kilometers. The prize fund for the main marathon amounted to 75 million soms.
The first-place winners received 30 million soms, the second-place winners 25 million soms, and the third-place winners 20 million soms. In the 42.2-kilometer distance among men, Shohruh Davlatov from Surxondaryo region emerged victorious.
Among women, the first place was claimed by Jasinta Chepkoyech from Kenya. In the half marathon distance, Russians Rinas Ahmadiev and Sofya Kameneva secured the victories.
Additionally, in the 10-kilometer distance, Japanese runner Yuta Shitara and Russian Anastasiya Slichenkova took first place. In the shortest 5-kilometer distance, Uzbek runners Alisher Ahmedullayev and Darya Andropova won.
The event was remembered not only as a sports competition but also as an important occasion promoting charitable goals.
