The deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis approved the draft law on the ratification of the agreement between Uzbekistan and Hungary on the extradition of criminals. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This document was signed on May 20, 2025, in Budapest. Until now, there was no special agreement between Uzbekistan and Hungary regarding the extradition of criminals.
The new agreement consists of 26 articles and defines the conditions under which persons suspected of committing crimes or those convicted by court verdicts can be handed over between the two countries. Once this agreement comes into force, cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two states will be further strengthened.
This will increase the efficiency of investigating crimes and holding offenders accountable. At the same time, the agreement plays an important role in preventing criminals from evading responsibility.
The deputies emphasized that by approving this document, they focused on strengthening legal cooperation. This draft law has now been sent to the Senate for consideration.
