President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the establishment of the Uzbek-American Business and Investment Council. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The document was published on the official website of the head of state. The responsibility for approving the participants of the new council and coordinating its activities was assigned to Saida Mirziyoyev, Head of the Presidential Administration.
The main tasks of the council will be coordinating large trade and investment projects. At the same time, a special investment fund is planned to be established to attract additional funds to the Uzbek economy.
In this regard, the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and other global financial organizations may participate as key investors. The council will focus on developing strategic and infrastructure projects, reducing mutual trade tariffs, and promoting IT products produced by residents of the IT Park.
Additionally, proposals will be developed to diversify the country's investment portfolio. Furthermore, issues related to the effective management of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan's foreign exchange reserves will also be discussed.
Starting from 2024, a new position – advisor-ambassador – will be established at Uzbekistan's embassy in the United States. This advisor will be responsible for implementing trade and investment projects between the two countries.
