
The unemployment rate in Uzbekistan was 4.9 percent in the third quarter of 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment reported this. This indicator decreased by 0.8 percentage points compared to last year.
According to the ministry's data, the country's population has reached 37.8 million. The labor resources amount to 20.35 million, while the economically active population is 15.57 million.
Out of them, 14.81 million are employed, which is an increase of 579.6 thousand compared to last year. The number of employees in the official sector reached 8.58 million, representing a 17 percent growth.
At the same time, the number of people working in the informal sector decreased by 26.9 percent, totaling 4.38 million. The number of Uzbeks working abroad also increased, reaching 1.86 million.
This shows a growth of 512 thousand compared to last year. This year, 4.45 million people have been provided with income-generating employment.
The service sector showed the largest growth, employing 2.74 million people. Additionally, 1.29 million were employed in agriculture, 172 thousand in construction, and 256 thousand new jobs were created through investment projects.
It is worth noting that the unemployment rate in the second quarter of 2025 was 5.1 percent. The decrease in this indicator indicates positive changes in the labor market.
