According to the decision adopted in 2018, it was planned to establish a public park on the site of the former No. 1 investigative prison in Yunusobod district of Tashkent city. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This park was intended to serve as a place for city residents to relax and hold cultural events. However, in 2020, the former mayor of Tashkent, Jahongir Ortiqxo‘jayev, granted this area to an entrepreneur as compensation within the framework of the “Yunusobod Business City” project.
The area covers about 3 hectares, and the entrepreneur planned to build a hotel or multi-storey residential buildings there. Nevertheless, the Tashkent city master plan prohibits the construction of multi-storey residential buildings or hotels in this area.
For this reason, the entrepreneur has not been able to obtain a permit for the construction, and the project has not yet been implemented. Experts and local residents emphasize the necessity of preserving this area as a park.
According to them, this situation clearly reveals the conflict between the city master plan and private property rights. Source: zamin.uz
