The President of Uzbekistan has outlined important measures to strengthen the social protection of needy families. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the President, from now on, individuals with limited income opportunities and citizens with disabilities will not be included in the poverty register. Supporting them will be fully the responsibility of the state.
Starting from 2024, a new project called “Equal Opportunity – Inclusive Employment” will be implemented. Within this project, it is planned to provide employment for 40,000 people with disabilities.
A mechanism will be established through the Employment Fund to provide them with interest-free loans of up to 30 million soms. At the same time, social assistance and benefits will be maintained for families at risk of falling back into poverty.
Such families will receive financial assistance and child benefits for 6 months, and expenses for kindergartens and clubs will be covered. Additionally, they will have access to medical treatment orders and 110 other types of social services for 12 months.
Measures will also be taken to identify in advance families at high risk of falling into poverty due to difficult life circumstances and to provide them with targeted assistance. The control over the implementation of these tasks will be carried out by Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva, the First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection.
