An experimental project on digital labeling of mineral fertilizers and plant protection products in Uzbekistan under the Asl Belgisi system has been successfully completed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Within the framework of the project, more than 5.3 million product units were digitally labeled in cooperation with major domestic manufacturers, including SWISSAGRO LLC, IFODA AGRO KIMYO HIMOYA LLC, INDORAMA KOKAND FERTILIZERS AND CHEMICALS JSC, SCHELKOVO AGROHIM-UZBEKISTAN JSC LLC, and MAXAM-CHIRCHIQ JSC. During the experiment, DataMatrix codes were used in the production process.
These codes served to test mechanisms for tracking products during logistics stages, as well as sales through electronic invoices and online receipts. Nineteen companies voluntarily joined the system, participating in the digital labeling of over 2.5 million products in total.
The project was implemented under the leadership of the Quarantine and Plant Protection Agency under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the support of the Tax Committee and the State Customs Committee. This system enhanced control at all stages of product circulation and enabled coordination of monitoring processes.
The digital labeling system brought several advantages to the sector. In particular, it laid the groundwork for quality control of products, ensured transparency in the field, and helped reduce illegal circulation.
Based on the project results, a phased transition to a mandatory digital labeling system for fertilizers and plant protection products is planned starting from May 1, 2026. This will contribute to further improving the quality of agricultural products.
