Opportunities to study the family history and lineage of citizens in Uzbekistan are expanding. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the presidential decree, starting from September 1, 2026, the "Shajara" information system will be fully launched in the country. This system will allow citizens to create their family tree electronically and obtain accurate information about their ancestors based on historical sources and scientific data.
The main goal of the system is to provide citizens with reliable and convenient access to information about their ancestors. The "Shajara" information system offers comprehensive services by integrating historical archives, family documents, and DNA data.
As noted in the presidential decree, this system will enable the creation of family trees based on data stored in the unified electronic archive of the Civil Registry Office, state archives, and departmental archives. Additionally, it will be possible to determine citizens' ethnic origins through DNA data.
Through the "Shajara" system, citizens will not only learn the names and kinship degrees of their ancestors but also gain detailed information about their historical roots and ethnic affiliation. This service will be provided through public service centers and the my.gov.uz portal, covering three main historical periods: from the 9th century to 1917, the period between 1918 and 1945, and the modern era from 1946 to the present day.
The introduction of this system will encourage citizens to take a greater interest in their family history. This will not only satisfy personal spiritual needs but also play an important role in preserving the nation's history and safeguarding the memory of generations.
The "Shajara" system is expected to become one of the leading platforms in the region.
