The share of renewable energy is increasing in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is actively working to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the energy sector. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Since the beginning of this year, 23 percent of the electricity produced in the country has come from renewable energy sources. According to the Ministry of Energy, this figure is planned to reach 54 percent by 2030.

Currently, there are 13 solar and 5 wind power plants operating in Uzbekistan with a total capacity of 4.7 thousand MW. These plants have produced 9.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.

As a result, 2.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been saved and 4.2 million tons of harmful emissions have been reduced. Additionally, installation of solar panels in the private sector and social facilities is ongoing.

Their total capacity amounts to 1.9 thousand MW. Moreover, solar water heating collectors with a volume of 4.85 million liters are being used.

This has enabled an additional saving of 761 million cubic meters of gas and a reduction of 905 thousand tons of harmful emissions. Modern environmental technologies are also being implemented at thermal power plants.

At the Tashkent thermal power plant, new gas turbine units, automatic monitoring systems, and filtration equipment have been installed, achieving a reduction of 200 tons of harmful emissions annually. Furthermore, within the framework of the "Green Space" project, it is planned that by 2025, more than 2.5 million trees will be planted by fuel and energy complex enterprises and new ecological zones will be established around production facilities.
