In Uzbekistan, a single universal QR code is planned to be introduced to further simplify payment systems. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This is outlined in the decree of the President of Uzbekistan "On measures to develop the financial technology sector." Based on this decree, the Central Bank will implement a pilot project for the universal QR code in December 2025.
The project envisages the participation of banks and payment organizations. By January 2026, regulatory and legal documents related to this system are planned to be developed and approved.
From February onwards, the universal QR code will be fully implemented. According to representatives of the Central Bank, currently many retail points have several different QR codes for various payment services, which causes inconvenience for buyers.
The new system will eliminate such problems. Through a single QR code, buyers will be able to make payments using any payment application or service.
This system will also create convenience for entrepreneurs, as they will be freed from excessive paperwork and the need to manage multiple installations. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also discussed this issue during an open dialogue with entrepreneurs, emphasizing that the introduction of the universal QR code will provide great convenience for both entrepreneurs and buyers.
This system is expected to enhance payment culture and provide the opportunity to make settlements quickly and easily.
