Significant changes are being implemented in the system of prescribing and distributing medicines in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
From now on, antibiotics and systemic hormonal preparations will be sold only based on electronic prescriptions. This innovation aims to regulate medicines and prevent their illegal circulation.
According to the new procedure, all information about the medicines prescribed to the patient will be entered by the doctor into a special electronic system. After that, the prescription will be digitally confirmed and ready to be used as an official document.
This will strengthen the control over medicines and limit their incorrect use. The Ministry of Health is establishing a special Expert Council to effectively organize this process.
This council will form an exact list of medicines sold through electronic prescriptions. In the first phase, only antibiotics and systemic hormonal preparations will be prescribed through this system.
Additionally, extra conveniences will be created for patients with chronic diseases or those undergoing treatment in bed rest. They will be able to remotely contact their family doctor or narrow-profile specialist via the 1003 short number Call Center to obtain an electronic prescription to continue their treatment course.
This new procedure is expected to be a convenient and transparent solution not only for patients but also for the healthcare system. Source: zamin.uz
