
The year 2026 has been declared the "Year of Accelerated Development and Increasing Population Incomes" for the city of Tashkent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a comprehensive development program for the capital will be implemented next year. Within this plan, it is envisaged to attract direct foreign investments amounting to 9 billion dollars into the city's economy.
In the following two years, this figure is planned to reach 20 billion dollars. Large projects in the fields of industry and logistics will be carried out in the Sergeli, Yangi Hayot, and Bektemir districts.
Specifically, construction of an agro-logistics complex worth 70 million dollars has begun in Sergeli. In the Yangi Hayot and Bektemir districts, projects worth a total of 3 billion dollars will be launched in textiles, automobile manufacturing, and other sectors.
Investments will also be directed to services, tourism, the creative economy, IT, startups, financial technologies, healthcare, and education sectors in other parts of the city. In 2025, 26 streets in Tashkent were converted to operate 24 hours a day, creating income opportunities for 5,000 people.
In 2026, it is planned to establish 18 more such streets. The program to improve education quality will also be expanded.
By 2026, the number of schools teaching IT, medicine, business, and engineering subjects for grades 7-11 will reach 24. By 2027, this figure is expected to increase to 33.
