New plans have been announced to improve the transport system and reduce traffic congestion in Tashkent city. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the meeting held on December 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that drivers visiting the capital will be able to leave their cars in large parking lots organized outside the city and enter the center by public transport. According to a special decree signed at the beginning of December, transport management in Tashkent will enter a new phase.
A unified intelligent control center will be established in the city. It will analyze traffic flow using artificial intelligence to predict congestion and prevent road traffic accidents.
In 2024, two inspection posts at the city entrances will be relocated outside the city, and three more posts will be reconstructed. Parking lots for 3,500 trucks and 5,500 passenger cars will be built at these locations.
Additionally, convenient camping sites will be organized for drivers and passengers. Most importantly, these points will be connected to the public transport network.
Thus, visitors will be able to leave their cars outside and enter the city quickly, safely, and comfortably via public transport. The city administration has been assigned important tasks to develop the transport system.
Among these are the introduction of 100 “smart” traffic light intersections, organizing 30,000 parking spaces in cooperation with the private sector, reconstructing 300 bus stops, constructing 40 kilometers of pedestrian walkways and 20 kilometers of bike lanes, repairing 100 kilometers of roads, as well as building an overpass and tunnel in Yunusabad and Yashnobod districts. Additionally, the purchase of 200 electric buses has been planned.
These measures are aimed at significantly improving traffic flow in Tashkent city and creating convenience for the population. Source: zamin.uz
