
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Taro Aso, Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Friendship League and the Central Asian Countries Friendship League in the Japanese Parliament. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the meeting, issues related to further developing strategic cooperation between the two countries, including inter-parliamentary relations, were discussed. Members of the friendship league also participated in the event.
During the meeting, the parties emphasized the important role of parliaments in developing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan. Special attention was also paid to the need to regularly continue inter-parliamentary dialogue and strengthen the role of friendship groups.
Taro Aso's contribution to strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan was highly appreciated. At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold the next Inter-Parliamentary Forum in Uzbekistan in 2026.
For reference, the Uzbekistan Friendship League was established in 2002 and currently has more than 40 members. Among them are prominent Japanese politicians, influential deputies, and diplomats.
