In 2025, 248 people died in workplaces

During 2025, 248 citizens died as a result of accidents occurring at workplaces in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, a total of 849 work-related accidents were recorded across the country throughout the year. Of these incidents, 50 occurred in groups, 583 resulted in serious consequences, and 216 cases ended in death.
As a result of these incidents, 680 citizens sustained serious injuries, while 33 suffered minor injuries. The highest number of accidents were recorded in the construction sector, with 234 cases identified in this field.
Additionally, 47 accidents occurred in the light industry sector, and 37 in the transport sector. Experts emphasize the necessity to strengthen labor safety specifically in these sectors.
Legal measures have been taken against responsible individuals in the identified cases. In particular, criminal cases have been initiated against 432 officials, and administrative fines have been imposed on 241 persons.
