The population of Uzbekistan has exceeded 38 million

According to the National Statistics Committee, as of January 1, 2026, the population of Uzbekistan has reached 38 million 236.7 thousand people. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In the population composition, the number of men is slightly higher than that of women. Specifically, the number of men is 19 million 257.7 thousand (50.4 percent), while women number 18 million 979.0 thousand (49.6 percent).
There is also a difference in the distribution of the population between urban and rural areas. The number of city residents is 19 million 471.7 thousand, which is 706.7 thousand more than the rural population (18 million 765.0 thousand).
This indicates that the urban population continues to grow. Regarding marriage and divorce statistics, last year 267.1 thousand marriages were registered, and divorces amounted to 46.9 thousand.
Interestingly, the oldest groom was 91 years old, and the oldest bride was 85 years old. It has been observed that women mostly marry between the ages of 20 and 30.
According to migration indicators, in 2026, 1,159 people arrived in Uzbekistan, but 10,117 people left the country. This shows that the number of people leaving significantly exceeds those arriving.
Regarding birth rates, from January to September 2025, 664.6 thousand children were born. However, this figure has decreased compared to previous years' birth rates.
Overall, the population of Uzbekistan continues to grow. The urban population exceeds the rural population, indicating an intensifying urbanization process.
