The procedure for the childbirth allowance for the second child will not change
At a meeting with journalists held in Tashkent on January 29, it was announced by the Ministry of Economy and Finance that the current procedure for the childbirth allowance given for the second child will remain unchanged. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to Sherzod Muhammadov, director of the ministry's department, the childbirth allowance for the first child is fully paid to all women. This payment is made by the Social Protection Agency.

For the second child, however, the childbirth allowance is only given to low-income families registered in the social protection registry. It was noted at the meeting that there are currently no plans or prepared drafts to change this procedure.

Therefore, in 2026, the childbirth allowance for the second child will continue to be paid only to families in need of social assistance. Currently, the amount of the childbirth allowance equals 70.3 percent of the minimum wage, which amounts to 890 thousand soums.

Since March 2024, all women receive the childbirth allowance for the first child, while only low-income families are entitled to receive this assistance for the second child. No such payment is envisaged for the third and subsequent children.

According to the state budget indicators, 382.4 billion soums were allocated for the childbirth allowance in 2024, 275 billion soums in 2025, and this amount is planned to be reduced to 229.8 billion soums in 2026.

In conclusion, the current procedure will remain: the childbirth allowance for the first child is given to all women, and for the second child, only families in need of social protection receive this assistance. This was reported by the Daryo publication.
