Changes have been made to the procedure for obtaining a driver's license

According to the decision adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on October 25, 2025, new regulations have been introduced in Uzbekistan regarding the process of obtaining a driver's license. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Accordingly, starting from February 1, 2026, individuals wishing to obtain the right to drive vehicles of categories “A” and “B” may no longer be required to attend theoretical lessons compulsorily. This allows for the independent mastering of the theoretical part of the training program.
The applicant can choose to acquire theoretical knowledge through training courses (online or offline) or prepare independently. At the same time, the requirements for practical training remain strict as before.
Applicants must fully complete practical training on driving motor vehicles and urban electric transport vehicles. Those who successfully complete the practical training will take theoretical and practical exams to obtain a driver's license.
The certificate confirming completion of practical training will now be issued electronically. In addition, the requirement to register training groups for preparation and retraining of drivers of categories “A” and “B” with the State Traffic Safety Service has been abolished.
According to the new regulations, freedom has been increased in the theoretical part, but strict compliance with the practical training requirement is necessary. This makes the process of obtaining a driver's license more convenient and flexible.
