The procedure for obtaining a driver's license has changed
According to the decision adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on October 25, 2025, significant changes have been made to the procedure for obtaining a driver's license in Uzbekistan starting from February 1, 2026. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

From now on, individuals wishing to obtain the right to drive vehicles of categories “A” and “B” have the opportunity to study theoretical knowledge either in training courses or prepare independently. The previously mandatory requirement to attend theoretical classes has been abolished.

According to the new procedure, applicants can acquire theoretical knowledge in any way they prefer: by attending online or offline training courses, or through self-preparation. However, the requirements for practical training remain as strict as before.

Applicants must fully participate in practical training on driving motor vehicles and urban electric transport. These trainings are organized in state or non-state educational institutions.

Applicants who successfully complete the practical training will be issued a special electronic certificate. Based on this certificate, they can take theoretical and practical exams.

Persons who pass the exams successfully will be entitled to receive a driver's license. Additionally, under the new procedure, the requirement to register groups for training and retraining drivers of categories “A” and “B” with the State Traffic Safety Service has been abolished.

Overall, although freedom in studying theoretical knowledge has increased, strict requirements for practical training have been maintained. Therefore, it is necessary to pay serious attention to mastering practical skills in vehicle operation.
