President: Results are necessary in the fight against crime

On January 27, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting in Tashkent dedicated to issues related to the fight against crime. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the meeting, the activities of preventive inspectors were sharply criticized. The main topic of the meeting focused on the real situation in neighborhoods and systematic work with district inspectors.
The head of state asked a number of questions to Otabek Jamolov, the former head of the Shaykhontohur district internal affairs department. This segment was shown on the “Menimcha” program on the “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel.
The president’s criticism was that the leadership should not limit inspectors’ work to meetings only but must ensure their effectiveness. According to Mirziyoyev, it is necessary to work regularly with district inspectors, study the situation in the regions, and take measures based on the results.
Otabek Jamolov stated that attention is being paid to meetings, reprimands, and neighborhood visits, but the president emphasized that these measures are insufficient. The head of state also criticized the activities of the “mahalla committee.”
In his opinion, bureaucracy has flourished within the system, and real results are not being focused on. Leaders need to go down to the grassroots level and see the problems firsthand.
Mirziyoyev noted that a chain of mutual deception has appeared within the system, resulting in everything appearing fine on paper while problems remain unresolved in practice. According to the president, if security is not ensured in neighborhoods, economic stability and attracting investors will be difficult.
Because without a secure environment, trust cannot be formed, and distrust hinders the development of entrepreneurship. Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward the strict principle that “even one crime is a crime” and emphasized that crime must be absolutely prevented in neighborhoods.
Following the meeting, a number of changes were made in law enforcement agencies. In particular, Otabek Jamolov was relieved of his position.
According to the president, this criticism is not just a warning but a sign that real results are demanded from the system. If this demand is fulfilled, ordinary citizens will primarily benefit from a peaceful and safe life.
