Meat prices have risen again: causes and consequences

In Uzbekistan, the prices of beef and mutton continue to rise. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the past year, the sharp increase in meat prices significantly affected the daily expenses of the population. At the beginning of the new year, there were no signs of meat prices becoming cheaper.
According to experts, in 2025 the rate of meat price growth was several times higher than the overall inflation. At the same time, local meat production volumes decreased, while import volumes increased.
These factors are putting additional pressure on prices in the market. In January 2026, meat prices continued to rise.
Specifically, in major markets in Tashkent city, the prices of beef and mutton were observed to have increased again. Especially, the rise in mutton prices was significant.
Experts emphasize that if production volumes in the domestic market are not increased and the balance between supply and demand is not ensured, the pressure on meat prices may continue in the coming months. Source: One.uz.
