Drug prices will decrease by 40–60 percent in 2026

Starting from March 1, 2026, medicine prices in Uzbekistan will decrease by 40–60 percent for the population. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Representatives of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Sector issued an official statement regarding this. It was noted that several important factors influenced the price reduction.
In particular, reference prices were set for more than 2,000 imported medicines. Additionally, the markups of intermediaries – distributors – in the medicine supply system were reduced.
Moreover, investments amounting to 392 million dollars were attracted to the pharmaceutical sector. This figure is 2.3 times higher compared to last year.
By the end of the year, it is planned to reduce prices for another 4,000 types of medicines. Furthermore, expanding the production of import-substituting products based on technological transfer at local enterprises is also envisaged.
These reforms aim to stabilize the pharmaceutical market and increase the population's access to medicines. These measures are intended to meet the population's demand for affordable and quality medicines.
