The bodies of migrants who died abroad are repatriated at the state's expense

From now on, if citizens of Uzbekistan die abroad during labor migration, the costs of bringing their bodies back to the homeland will be covered by the state. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This procedure has been reinforced through new amendments to the "On Burial and Funeral Affairs" law. According to the new rule, the expenses for transporting the bodies of citizens who died abroad during labor activities will be financed from the Migration Fund.
The allocation of these funds is carried out by the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers in accordance with current legislation. This law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on July 1, 2025, and approved by the Senate on September 4, 2025.
At the same time, the document introduces changes and additions to several other normative legal acts. These changes aim to protect the rights of citizens involved in labor migration, relieve their family members from financial burdens, and ensure state support for the process of repatriating the bodies.
Thus, clear mechanisms have been established to prevent additional burdens on the families of the deceased.
