The first toll road will be built on the Urgench–Khiva route

The construction of the first toll road in Uzbekistan has begun in the Khorezm region, on the Urgench–Khiva route. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel, the project is valued at 120 million dollars. It includes the construction of a modern 35-kilometer-long highway, bridges, and tunnels.
The new road will be built as a four-lane asphalt-concrete pavement. According to experts, the road's capacity is expected to reach more than 20,000 vehicles per day.
This will not only be an ordinary road but also an important infrastructure that accelerates traffic and reduces congestion. The project is divided into five parts, with several construction organizations working simultaneously.
The construction process is carried out under the supervision of international consultants and specialized laboratories. It is emphasized that thousands of specialists and over a thousand pieces of equipment are involved in the project.
According to Dilshodbek Niyozmetov, head of the Khorezm Road Administration, within the framework of the road construction, 17 bridges, 8 overpasses, 1 tunnel, 5 special crossing points, as well as engineering structures and communication networks will be built. One of the most important outcomes is that after the new highway is commissioned, travel time from Urgench to Khiva will be reduced from 1 hour to 17 minutes.
This will not only facilitate the region's logistics but also provide great convenience for tourists and local residents. According to G‘ulom Zohidov, director of "Road Project Bureau" LLC, terminals are planned to be constructed at the beginning, middle, and end of the road.
Two service points are being built based on modern technologies. Considering the proximity of Khorezm's underground waters, drainage systems and collectors have also been designed.
The project pays special attention not only to increasing speed but also to safety and maintaining ecological balance. Special crossing points and overpasses are planned to protect wildlife and plant life and to ensure the safety of the population.
Overall, the Urgench–Khiva road will serve to bring Khorezm's infrastructure to a new level. If the project is successfully implemented, this road could serve as a model project for other regions as well.
