Cold Air Flow is Deteriorating Air Quality in Tashkent

Due to a drop in air temperature in Tashkent city and region, the atmospheric conditions are deteriorating. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the "Uzgidromet" organization, starting from February 28, a cold air flow has entered the country's territory, causing the wind around the capital to be almost unnoticeable. Experts emphasize that the sharp temperature difference of +3...+5 degrees at night and +11...+15 degrees during the day leads to morning fog and temperature inversion.
In this situation, the cool air remains "trapped" near the ground layer, while warm air stays in the upper layer, and air circulation weakens. Due to this meteorological condition, air exchange near the ground layer slows down.
As a result, pollutants do not disperse quickly and accumulate over the city. Therefore, the levels of fine particles — PM2.5 and PM10 — are increasing in the air of Tashkent city and region.
The good news is that meteorologists predict precipitation starting tomorrow. This can wash away dust and fine particles from the air, improving air quality.
