Men over 70 are also becoming fathers in Uzbekistan

New data released by the National Statistics Committee reveals interesting changes in Uzbekistan's demographics. Zamin.uz reported on this.
During 2025, a total of 719,590 babies were born. Among this large number, certain groups draw particular attention.
According to the data, the age limit for becoming a father is expanding each year. Last year, 48 men over the age of 70 achieved the honor of fatherhood with their life experience and family responsibility.
This situation constitutes part of a total of 638 fathers over the age of 73. In terms of birth distribution by age, the largest share belongs to fathers between twenty-five and forty-six years old.
In this group, 718,770 children were born. The number of fathers under twenty-five years old amounted to 70,917.
Among fathers aged forty to sixty, there were 70,246 new fathers. The overall trend in demographic indicators is observed to be declining.
The number of children born last year decreased by 5% and 13% compared to 2024. This situation was observed in almost all regions of the republic.
The number of marriages also fell to its lowest level at that time. For the first time in 150 years, the number of marriages exceeded a total of 267,000.
This figure indicates a decrease of 1% and 7% compared to the previous year. The increase in delayed family formation and late parenthood cases signifies the emergence of new trends in society.
