Mirziyoyev and Rahmon Renew Ancient Friendship at the Strategic Partnership Stage

Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the state visit by Tajikistan Republic leader Emomali Rahmon serves to further strengthen the long-standing traditions of friendship between the two peoples. Zamin.uz reported on this.
This significant event is contributing to elevating inter-state relations to the stage of strategic partnership. The inaugural meeting of the High Interstate Council created broad opportunities for implementing new initiatives.
Cooperation between governments, parliaments, and various agencies was highly appreciated. The Inter-governmental Commission meeting held prior to the visit, industrial exhibitions, and various forums concluded successfully.
At the same time, Tajik culture and cinema days are being organized at a high level in Uzbekistan. During the negotiations, expanding trade volume between the two countries, developing industrial cooperation, and improving connectivity in transport and logistics were identified as priority tasks.
Special attention was also paid to issues of water and energy security. According to last year's results, the volume of trade reached one billion dollars.
This result was achieved due to an increase in the export of finished products. Currently, numerous joint projects are being successfully implemented in the industrial, construction, agricultural, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Establishing air, rail, and bus services between the capitals is further accelerating trade turnover. It is planned to increase trade volume to two billion dollars by 2030 in the future.
To achieve this goal, it was proposed to accelerate the construction of a new border trade center in the Oybek and Fotihobod areas. Improving the product certification system and introducing the exchange of digital permits are also considered important steps.
New cooperation programs are being developed in the mining, energy, and light industry sectors. It is planned to expand the capital of a joint investment company to finance promising projects.
To deepen cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, a proposal was put forward to adopt a five-year program in education, science, and culture. These measures will serve to further strengthen unity between the two peoples.
