President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urbanization Forum held in Baku within the framework of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This influential event is considered an important platform dedicated to the development of cities worldwide and improving the living conditions of the population. At the Congress Center, the head of our state was warmly welcomed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, Anacláudia Rossbach.

The ceremony began with a joint photo session of the participating state and government leaders. This year’s forum is dedicated to the theme of advancing adequate, safe, and sustainable cities and communities for all.

The gathering brought together leaders of many countries, representatives of international organizations, and heads of influential development institutions. According to the main program of the event, key issues such as the strategic sustainable development of cities and ensuring modern and affordable housing for the population were addressed.

Furthermore, discussions are underway on substantially improving the quality of the urban environment, strengthening resilience to climate change, and enhancing urban transport infrastructure. The President of Uzbekistan is expected to deliver a speech at the Leaders’ Summit organized within the framework of the forum. In his address, the head of our state plans to share the national experience gained in developing cities in our country, outline ongoing large-scale reforms, and highlight important initiatives aimed at strengthening international cooperation.

Such international dialogues not only showcase Uzbekistan’s achievements in modern urban planning and social protection but also serve as an opportunity to learn from global best practices.
