Uzbekistan and Qatar to take military cooperation to a new level

Uzbekistan and Qatar have reached important agreements on advancing military cooperation to a new level, Zamin.uz reported.
During the official visit of Uzbekistan’s Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Shuhrat Kholmuhamedov, to Doha, he met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani. The meeting is regarded as a practical step toward strengthening mutual trust in defense and security matters between the two countries.
According to information from the Ministry of Defense, the sides discussed in detail defense-related issues connected to regional security, examined recent developments in the world and the region, modern threats, and joint efforts to counter emerging challenges.
Special attention was given to enhancing military cooperation, improving mechanisms for coordinating joint actions, and exchanging military experience. Relations between the two states have been actively developing not only in various sectors in recent years but also in the defense domain.
Moreover, shared goals in ensuring regional stability are further strengthening dialogue between Tashkent and Doha. Military cooperation extends beyond official meetings and includes, in the future, training personnel, improving skills, conducting joint exercises, and holding regular consultations on security matters.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Military Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar. This document serves as a solid legal foundation for establishing systematic ties between the defense agencies of both countries and defining new horizons for cooperation.
Such agreements demonstrate the serious intent of both nations not only in diplomatic but also in strategic partnership. It is worth noting that Qatar opened its embassy in Uzbekistan in 2023, after which bilateral relations gained new momentum.
The newly signed memorandum in the military sphere represents a logical continuation of this trusting relationship. Following the meeting in Doha, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar in ensuring security and stability is now progressing based on concrete practical measures.
