According to the Uzbekistan Hydrometeorological Service Agency, the influx of western humid air masses may lead to short-term dust and sand phenomena in the capital region. These forecasts are based on data from the regional centers of the World Meteorological Organization in Beijing and Saudi Arabia.
During the day, the sky will be cloudy, with possible brief rainfall and localized fog in some areas. Winds will predominantly come from the west at speeds of 3 to 8 meters per second.
However, at certain times, wind intensity may increase to 10–12 meters per second, and in some areas up to 15 meters per second. Due to the strengthening wind, dust particles may be lifted into the air in certain parts of the city.
As explained by specialists, this meteorological process will temporarily increase the amount of dust in the atmosphere. In particular, the concentration of microscopic particles that indicate air pollution levels may rise temporarily.
Although this may affect air quality, it will not last long. The arrival of western humid air masses and expected precipitation will gradually cleanse the atmosphere.
Nevertheless, it is recommended to take precautionary measures during periods of strong wind and dust storms. Especially, individuals with respiratory conditions, allergies, or cardiovascular issues should pay special attention to their health.
Experts advise avoiding prolonged outdoor exposure when unnecessary, keeping windows and doors closed indoors, and using medical masks when going outside if needed.
