The price for registering IMEI codes at the Malika shopping complex has increased from 30 to 250 dollars, Kursiv reported. Zamin.uz also reported on this.
Members of the Potrebitel.uz group on Facebook have reported that some sellers are even asking for 400 dollars for this service. According to users, although there is an IMEI registration system in Uzbekistan, its procedure is complicated and unclear.
Some users emphasized the necessity of presenting a customs declaration for IMEI registration. However, due to the lack of announcements at airports, many travelers are unaware of this.
Those who tried to obtain the declaration for a fee reported that this process is very difficult and expensive through the Customs Committee. Once the necessary documents are prepared, the IMEI registration process takes a few minutes.
Users are urging others to check the IMEI code when purchasing a phone. Additionally, it is worth noting that starting from the beginning of 2025, all phones brought into Uzbekistan must be indicated in the customs declaration.
Otherwise, a 30 percent duty will be charged, and registration in the UzIMEI system will not be possible.
