Chechen opposition figures Abubakar and Ibragim Yangulboyev's mother, Zarema Musayeva, is facing new charges. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Last year, she was charged with attacking an employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN). The prosecution is seeking a four-year prison sentence for her.
This case is being heard in the Shali city court and the charges are based on part 2 of article 321 of the criminal code. According to reports, Musayeva caused harm to an FSIN employee during the execution of her sentence.
She admitted to having scratched the employee's neck at that time, but spoke about the severity of the restrictions and punishments imposed on her during the process. The human rights organization "Team Against Torture" has examined the evidence presented in this case.
The organization emphasized that witnesses did not see the attack and there are no video recordings from the day of the incident. Musayeva denies her guilt and claims that she had no opportunity to carry out such actions.
According to the charges, Musayeva could face up to five years in prison. Currently, the investigation is ongoing and new court proceedings are beginning.
Zarema Musayeva is the wife of former judge of the Chechen Supreme Court, Saydi Yangulboyev, as well as the mother of opposition figures Abubakar Yangulboyev and Ibragim Yangulboyev. The charges against her are considered to be related to her sons' opposition activities.
Abubakar and Ibragim Yangulboyev manage the 1ADAT Telegram channel in Chechnya. Details of Musayeva's case and information regarding the investigation requirements are still being updated.
