A serious accident has occurred again at the large industrial enterprise "Elastik" factory, located in Russia's Ryazan region and engaged in weapons manufacturing. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Ryazan emergency services, a strong explosion took place in the weapons production section of the factory, causing a great commotion throughout the area. Official reports state that at least five people died as a result of the explosion, and about twenty others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The victims include factory workers and technical specialists who were on duty in the area at the time of the explosion. Witnesses say the explosion was so powerful that its sound was heard in residential areas several kilometers away.
After the incident, special fire safety teams promptly arrived at the scene. However, due to the high temperature and the nature of the explosive materials, the fire spread quickly.
According to officials, the fire has now been completely extinguished. This factory has previously experienced a major disaster.
In 2021, a blast caused by gross violations of technological procedures resulted in the deaths of 17 people and many workers suffering serious injuries. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case regarding the current incident.
Investigators preliminarily believe that violations of technological discipline, non-compliance with fire safety regulations, or human factors are among the main causes. Experts are studying the exact causes of the explosion, the extent of material damage, and the economic impact on the enterprise's operations.
This disaster has once again highlighted the urgent need for strict adherence to technological discipline and safety standards in industrial safety in Russia, especially at enterprises within the military-industrial complex. Specialists emphasize the importance of strengthening safety control at such facilities and ensuring a high level of employee preparedness.
