
On September 24, 2023, Ukrainian drones launched an attack on the center of Novorossiysk city in Russia's Krasnodar region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the regional governor Veniamin Kondratev, the attack caused damage to several buildings and structures in the city center. At the same time, naval drones also struck the Novorossiysk port.
This port is one of Russia's largest sea routes, hosting the oil terminal of the international Caspian Pipeline Consortium as well as the Black Sea Fleet naval base. According to the regional emergency headquarters, seven residential buildings were damaged in the attack, including the "Novorossiysk" hotel and the roof of a multi-story building on Shevchenko Street caught fire.
The incident resulted in two fatalities and seven others sustaining various injuries. Among the injured is a minor child, with three individuals in serious condition hospitalized.
Additionally, more than 20 vehicles were damaged, three of which were completely burned. A state of emergency was declared in the city, and the governor urged residents to strictly follow safety rules and stay at home as much as possible.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium announced that it temporarily suspended office operations due to the attack. All employees were evacuated because the building was damaged.
According to the consortium, two workers were injured, and there are also seriously injured individuals among those not affiliated with the company. The Russian Federal Agency for Sea and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot) reported that port infrastructure and ships did not suffer significant damage after the attack.
Security measures have been strengthened in the Krasnodar region following the incident. In the city of Gelenjik, all watercraft have been temporarily banned from going out to sea.
In the cities of Tuapse and Sochi, coastal residents are being temporarily evacuated. The Russian Ministry of Defense and Ukrainian military have not yet issued official statements regarding this incident.
