Drone flights were detected over the Karup airbase and other military facilities in Denmark, leading to the temporary closure of the base's airspace for commercial flights. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Additionally, drones were also observed in the territories of Germany, Norway, and Lithuania. Danish officials described this incident as a “hybrid attack,” although there is currently no clear evidence of Moscow's involvement.
The incident lasted several hours, but the police did not provide information about the origin of the drones. The Karup airbase hosts all of Denmark's Armed Forces helicopters and air control units, with approximately 3,500 personnel working at the base.
Recently, air traffic at Danish airports was also temporarily halted due to drones. Authorities in Germany, Norway, and Lithuania are conducting investigations regarding the drone sightings in their territories.
The Danish Defense Minister assessed this attack as a “hybrid attack carried out by a professional operator.” The incident highlights emerging new threats in the security sector, and countries continue to take measures to prevent such situations.
Drone flights near military facilities pose significant challenges to ensuring security. Therefore, countries are paying special attention to strict control of air traffic within their territories.
