Qodirov summoned Shamanov to the military tribunal
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, demanded that the former commander of military units in Chechnya, Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov, be brought before a military tribunal by the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense for his cruelty towards the Chechen people. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This demand is directly related to the initiative to rename cities in Chechnya, and Shamanov's views on this matter were sharply criticized by Kadyrov. According to Grozny TV, Kadyrov called General Shamanov a “vile, despicable person” and stated that during the Chechen war, he was cruel to the Chechen people, taking men to the fields and shooting them.
According to Kadyrov, Shamanov has no right to claim to be a “patriot.” On his official Telegram page, Kadyrov also made harsh appeals to Shamanov, inviting him to participate in military operations and serve the Motherland.
He said: “We have clear information about your ‘rich experience’ of insulting peaceful civilians. Sitting in the Duma and claiming to be a ‘defender of the people’ you have no moral right.
You must apologize to the Chechen people for surrendering, the killing of peaceful civilians, looting, and destruction.” Kadyrov’s statement is directly connected to the draft law in the State Duma regarding the renaming of places in Chechnya. He criticized the renaming as “destroying historical names.”
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee, Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov, expressed his opposition to this initiative. It should be recalled that Vladimir Shamanov commanded military operations in Chechnya from 1996 to 1999 and made important strategic decisions for the Russian army during that period.
Shamanov, who was awarded the title Hero of Russia in 1999, played a significant role in shaping relations between Russia and Chechnya through his military activities. Ramzan Kadyrov’s statements are causing wide discussions not only in domestic politics but also on the international stage.
