Former Japanese Minister of Internal Affairs Sanae Takaiti won the election for the leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to the Kyodo news agency, Takaiti will hold the position of the party's new leader until 2027. However, being the LDP leader does not automatically mean she will be appointed Prime Minister, as the party has lost its majority in parliament.
