The US President Donald Trump may withdraw from negotiations regarding the conflict in Ukraine, vedomosti.ru reported.
On April 18, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio's statement, if there seems to be no possibility of reaching an agreement in the near future, Washington will cease its mediating role. Although Trump has invested political capital in this process, there are other significant foreign policy issues in the US.
On April 17, Rubio spoke on the phone with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Negotiations also took place with French President Macron and US Special Representative Vitkoff.
In Paris, the Ukrainian delegation discussed the issue of halting fire with the "coalition of willing." On the same day, the US and Ukraine signed a memorandum on mineral resource operations.
Russian representatives, including Peskov and Nebenzya, stated that halting fire is currently not realistic. Experts believe that the withdrawal threat expressed by Trump is being perceived as pressure on the negotiations.
