The issue of moving the capital of Kyrgyzstan from Bishkek to Manas is being actively discussed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Chairman of the State Committee for National Security and Deputy Head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Kamchibek Tashiev, expressed his opinion on this matter. According to him, to have the status of a capital, not only the city but also its population must be prepared both mentally and in terms of infrastructure.
Tashiev emphasized that becoming a capital is not an easy process and a large amount of funds is being allocated to Manas. Construction work is progressing rapidly, and it is necessary to transform the city into a modern, developed center.
According to official information, Manas city will receive the status of the third city of republican significance in 2026. Additionally, changing the city's name is considered a strategically correct decision.
It should be noted that on September 17, Jalal-Abad city was officially renamed Manas. The relevant law was signed by President Sadyr Japarov.
Manas city is considered the third largest city in Kyrgyzstan and serves as the administrative center of Jalal-Abad region. The city's population is approximately 184.4 thousand people, and it is located in the south of the country, in the Fergana Valley.
These changes are expected to play an important role in the process of relocating the capital.
