A serious road traffic accident occurred in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt's famous tourist city. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In this accident, three members of the Qatar delegation participating in international negotiations on Gaza were killed, according to the “El Fagr” publication. According to the information, those killed were employees of the protocol service accompanying the Prime Minister of Qatar, and their names were reported as Abdullah bin Ghanim Al-Khayarin, Hasan Al-Jobir, and Saud bin Tamer Al-Tan.
As a result of the accident, three more people sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the intensive care unit of Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital. Local journalist Amr Adib stated on MBC Egypt's “Al-Hekaya” program that the incident occurred about 50 kilometers from the city.
This road traffic accident occurred amid important diplomatic negotiations involving Qatar, Egypt, and the USA. Qatar has traditionally been actively involved as a mediator in the peace process regarding Gaza.
At the beginning of October, the Doha delegation began negotiations with HAMAS in cooperation with Egypt and the USA. Qatar regarded HAMAS's agreement to the peace plan developed through the USA as a positive step.
On October 9, an agreement was signed in Sharm El-Sheikh to cease fire between Israel and HAMAS and to release hostages. Qatar actively participated as a diplomatic mediator in this process.
Thus, the accident in Sharm El-Sheikh not only resulted in loss of life but also negatively affected the delicate diplomatic processes in the region. Qatari officials are working on preparing an official statement regarding the incident.
