US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a meeting in the city of Busan, South Korea. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the meeting, issues of easing the long-standing trade war between the two countries and reaching a new agreement were discussed. The parties announced that they had reached an agreement to resolve mutual problems.
Earlier, Trump had planned to impose a 100 percent tariff on Chinese goods. However, the US Treasury Department expressed hope that this measure would not be implemented.
In recent months, tensions between the two countries had increased over tariffs, technologies, and the "TikTok" app. Experts consider this meeting an important step for the global economy.
During the negotiations, issues such as semiconductors, rare metal trade, and TikTok's operations in the US were also discussed. According to experts, this meeting may help reduce competition between the two countries.
Nevertheless, economists emphasize that the agreement between Trump and Xi does not guarantee long-term stable peace. They believe that technological and trade competition between the US and China is expected to continue in the coming years.
