23-year-old Ayshat Baymuradova fled Chechnya and came to Armenia in search of a free life. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Wanting to escape strict control in her family, she cut her hair, removed her headscarf, and began posting her photos on social media. Unfortunately, in October, she was found murdered in the rented apartment in Yerevan.
It became known that the woman and man who lived with Ayshat quickly left for Russia after the incident. There are speculations that the man may be a close associate of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
Before coming to Armenia, Ayshat was forcibly married by her family and kept under constant surveillance. She dreamed of living a simple and free life.
Her tragic death once again brought the issues of Chechen women's safety to the forefront. Many Chechen women are forced to refrain from participating in community events and speaking the Chechen language.
Ayshat's death has further intensified the anxiety and fear among these women.
