Famous director Francis Ford Coppola's F.P. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The watch belonging to the Journe brand was recently sold at a record price at an auction. This unique watch, made in Switzerland, was purchased by an unknown buyer for 11 million dollars after only an 11-minute bidding war at the auction.
It is known that Coppola announced financial difficulties in the spring of 2024. He spent 120 million dollars of his own money to shoot the film "Megapolis," but the film earned only 14.4 million dollars at the box office.
As a result, the director was forced to sell several of his properties to cover his debts. Later, his unique watch collection was also put up for auction.
At the auction held on December 6 on Park Avenue in New York, this watch belonging to the F.P. Journe brand was sold for 10.755 million dollars.
This amount became one of the highest prices paid for watches in the United States. It is worth noting that previously, in 2017, actor Paul Newman's famous Rolex Daytona watch was sold for 17.8 million dollars.
Interestingly, Coppola collaborated with the F.P. Journe company in 2014 to develop this watch model.
The watch's distinctive design and complex mechanism attract attention. At the center of the dial is an image of a gloved hand, with the fingers moving, disappearing, and reappearing throughout the day.
The auction started at 11:00 with an initial bid of 1 million dollars. Buyers raised the price to 5 million dollars within a few seconds.
Although the sale officially ended at 9 million dollars, with additional fees, the total amount reached nearly 11 million dollars. Secondary market expert Andrew Shir described this sale as "incredibly high" in price.
